In the short space of time since the Spider range was introduced in early 2011 the Real Spider has become one of our most popular models. Clearly our young users themselves and their parents/carers like the look of the chair. In consultation with a number of different occupational therapists and advisers, in recent months a number of changes have been made to the prototype, resulting in the current Real Spider. By taking into account a wide range of opinions in the final design we have succeeded in producing a chair which appeals to users, parents/carers,
occupational therapists and advisers alike.

Despite its low seat height (from as low as 17 cm), even the real spider uses the modular system for which Mercado Medic
is renowned. In short, there are a wide range of options and accessories available for the real spider.

EXTRA LOW SEAT HEIGHT

One of the key features of the Real Spider is its low seat height. The low seat height and maximum legroom, in combination with the smooth running wheels, allow the child to manoeuvre themselves easily both at home and at school. The smooth-running wheels allow the child to get to a desk or table on their own without their teacher or their parent or carer having to push them.

POSTURAL MANAGEMENT

To improve seating position and comfort, Mercado Medic has developed the ErgoMedic plus system in conjunction with Bengt Engström. The system is ideal for children with positioning problems. and consists of four components: seat, back support, armrests and head/neck support.
The shape and softness of the components ensure optimum stability, support and comfort. We also have seats made from other materials such as wood and memory foam. And you can also choose between slim or ErgoMedic

I happened to be present while Mercado’s Connor completed the servicing of my sons Mercado Real 6100 chair. I was very impressed with the extent and content of the servicing. Virtually, the complete chair was dismantled to its component parts, items inspected, cleaned, reassembled and a full functional test of the chair was performed. A very thorough and professional inspection. At the end a report was provided on the condition of the chair and state of the components wear and tear. IE Seat cushion and tyre wear.

In 2014 I found it very difficult to continue to walk and keep mobile around the office and I was put in touch with Mercado Medic. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, assessing your needs and building a chair for your specifications. I was warned delivery may take a while due to the custom build in Sweden but was delighted to find it had arrived many weeks early.

The same person (Tomas) I’d been dealing with delivered it to the office and ensured I was happy and informed.
After a few months I was so happy I bought a second chair for use at home!

I can honestly say without a Real 6100 Plus I may have had to give up work. The compact size is ideal for the office environment, taking up far less room than a standard power wheelchair and the adjustable height means that I can join in meetings at our company’s waist high media benches. Although not branded as an outdoor chair I have had no problems in the city (flat, paved areas) to go grab lunch, pop to the shops, sit outside in the local grassy area in the summer or even join friends and colleagues for an after work drink.

If there have ever been any problems a call or email to Henrik or his colleagues and there’ a response, early, late, it doesn’t matter and if necessary a visit is quickly arranged.

My wife has used a Real 6100 Plus since 2011. It was always serviced by a third party who seemed to have minimal knowledge of the chair. It was a revelation when Mercado took over servicing recently. The email contact and support was very good and thorough. The collection, service and advice was top quality. It has been so good to find a company who can look after such a necessary part of our lives. Connor and Henrick were superb, though I'm sure everyone who works there is!!
